After digging around, I found a FREE answer to the missing Fax software dilemma on Vista Home Premium. US Robotics has software you can download for free (at least right now) that seems to work with any modem.

I installed the English version and chose the 3Com modem from the list that pops up. - Works fine, even though I'm not using a 3Com modem!

There are lots of languages, and works fine with my ACER notebook in English.

Nice to know about this free fax software..
But I think sending fax messages through online with email account is also a nice Idea..
I am using 800PBX free fax service by which I can send fax messages at free of cost via internet.
Thank you soooo much for this post. I hate M$. I have NO CLUE, why they didn't continue providing the fax option in Vista Home Premium. IDIOTA. It took me over 4 hours to find your post with the ULTIMATE solution. I am very grateful. I have a cyberbullet fax modem and the US robotics software works just great!! I will write USR too and thank them as well.

We install to 'US Robotics V.92 modem' for a Dell/Vista Home Premium (MS's meaning of premium is suspect here) with Conexant B850 PCI V.92 modem. Wala! all is sweet now!

Nice post free fax software. I would recommend following for free online faxing to USA and Canada where you can send PDF/Word files with no ads or any limitations. Also use receive free faxes online.
